First Post, Lots to Say!

Well now, I have been in Australia for just about two weeks now, and it has been nothing short of breath-taking. I am loving everything about this place, and I know it is going to be a great semester! Well, when i first got here Arcadia brought us to St. Kilda, a little seaside town about a half hour outside of Melbourne. It was a nice little place, and Arcadia also gave us $25 to go out on our own and get some food. Well I went out with my new friends Dan, Jon, and Yvanka, and we ended up at a little oceanside restaurant called Donovans. Well, we didn't realize that it was going to be such a high-scale restaurant when we walked in way underdressed, and unfortunately we didn't have the guts to leave. We ended up staying and paying ridiculous amounts of money for ridiculously small amounts of food! But it was still a fun experience, and I can tell you that I am not going to soon forget it! After eating lunch, we moved on to our new place for the next two nights, The Oceanic in Sorrento! It was a nice little hotel right on the ocean, and while it was deathly hot and muggy in the rooms at night, it was fun to hang out with new people and experience new things. I got to try some new foods that I have never had before, and I met a bunch of new people that are great. On Day 2 of orientation, we went out on a hike through the cliffs over the ocean, and it was a blast! The picture on the left is of me Vanna-ing the beautiful view! The walk was amazing and I have never been to a more breath-taking place. After the walk, we all went out for a cruise on the bay where we got to cruise alongside dolphins in the ocean, get a DELICIOUS meal of fish and chips, and see so many seals lounging around on this little structure in the ocean! Not much more excitment was happening in Sorrento, but the following day we moved on to Melbourne! The group of us stayed in a hotel there called The Mantra on the Park, and the rooms we got to live in were so nice! We got a walking tour of the city, which was really interesting because we got to learn all about the huge cafe life that there is there! But after walking into the Tourist Center, Patrick, one of the coordinators of orientation, just sort of disappeared and left all of us scattered to find our own ways back. I ended up just touring the city some more and went out to lunch at this tiny, hole in the wall all-you-can-eat chinese buffet, which was delicious. I also got to see some amazing sights around the city, including the interestingly built building below.

But it was a really fun day and cool to see a lot of Melbourne, and a bunch of us all ended up going out later that night and had a blast! But the next day it was on to Sydney, where I couldn't wait to finally settle in my place at SUV!

After taking an easy flight for an hour and a half from Melbourne to Sydney, I was starting to go stir crazy because I was getting so sick of sitting around and waiting for everyone to get their stuff together at the airport! I just wanted to get to the Sydney University Village and get my stuff unpacked and settled in! After a couple of hours, I was finally here and I couldn't be happier! I lugged all my stuff into my studio apartment, and actually ended up leaving it there so I could go explore around the area. Here's what my little studio looks like!

But enough for this post, I will continue catching up on things tomorrow because this post is getting a bit excessive and I am tired! Goodnight for now and be back soon!
